Clothing

Tahiti has a tropical climate and can be hot and humid like most pacific islands. In Hawaii the designs are generally flowers and turtles but here in Tahiti the tastes are more leaf designs, tribal tattoos and petroglphs. Local residents really do wear sarongs (more commonly known as pareos) as everyday dress and men wear shorts and T-shirts or short-sleeved shirts. The traditional clothing is fairly minimal, light and comfortable, often very colorful with motifs and designs inspired by the flora, fauna, tattoos or local folklore.
